Inks, chemicals, solvents, degreasers, lubricants and drying agents like ammonia are all used by printers. Everything that can be used and end up in a land fill washed down the drain out the door and down the street that can and will end up in land fill or the water table needs to be safe for animals and people. If it’s not and an accident occurs the M S D S sheets tell the person(s) in charge how to go about cleaning up or removing the dangerous spill. Making it safe for the animal kingdom.

If you working in the printing industry how often do you have to be tested for colorblindness?

I could not find anything on the intranet that would answer this for me. Thank you.

I doubt that there’s a mandatory standard. I’ve been in the industry for about a year, and I’ve never been tested.

I want to further my education about the printing industry?

I will be graduating in May 2009, and after taking four years of Graphic Communications(at a vocational HS) I want to learn more about printing presses and get a job running a press or maybe even start my own business(doubtful though lol).I’m really uncertain about what colleges offer this…i’m guessing a technical school? help?

The quickest and best way to learn is to get an internship at a newspaper or the next best thing is to find a small printing business near you and ask to work at any job in the business, and then talk everyday about the business to the owner.
It’s time for 4 years of classes to translate to actual job experience. There is something called "job shadowing" where you follow workers at the jobs you are interested in to see how you will like them. Your school should have a job counselor to help you with that or call the state’s employment office for a workforce officer who can help you. Lots of stuff out here, just go look for what you want.
